Otterly alternatives

If you are measuring AI visibility with Otterly and wondering what a first-party approach would show instead, this is the honest version of that comparison.

What Otterly says it does

Otterly describes itself as a platform for tracking AI search visibility across ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity and Microsoft Copilot, aimed at marketers and agencies.

What your Otterly data means

Daily readings across four engines give you something valuable that no analytics property contains: a time series of appearance. If your brand stopped being named last Tuesday, that is a real signal and you would not find it in GA4.

The limit is that appearance and outcome are different quantities. A prompt you appear on every day may send nobody, and a prompt you appear on rarely may send your best-converting visitors. Without first-party data the two look the same on the dashboard.

What carries over and what does not

Prompts carry over as concepts. Veribix runs category prompts — the ones with no brand name in them — against a shared corpus, so the marginal cost of a broad category set is close to nothing; branded prompts stay private to your account.

Otterly's stored answers do not carry over, and no vendor should claim otherwise. What does carry over, and is usually the pleasant surprise, is that your GA4 and Search Console history already exists. A Veribix funnel can be built over months you have already lived through.

Running both

Otterly's per-prompt pricing at the Lite tier is among the lowest published in this category, which makes running it alongside first-party measurement genuinely affordable rather than theoretical.

If your budget only stretches to one and your question is whether AI search is worth the effort, first-party measurement answers it and answer polling does not. If your question is whether a content change moved your appearance, that is polling's question and you should keep paying for it.

Before you decide

Look at how many of your prompts are branded — containing your name or a competitor's — and how many are plain category questions. Category prompts run against a shared corpus in Veribix, so a wide category set costs very little; a set that is mostly branded prices differently.

Then check whether your analytics already shows chatgpt.com as a referral source. If it does and the numbers are tiny, you have learned something free, and the case for paying anyone more is weaker than it looked.

Questions

Is Veribix cheaper than Otterly?
At the entry point they are not comparable in a useful way: Otterly's Lite plan is $29 a month for fifteen prompts, and Veribix's entry point is a free audit rather than a cheap tier. Compare on the paid tiers and on what each one measures.
Does Veribix track daily like Otterly?
First-party ingest runs daily on paid plans. Answer polling frequency depends on the plan and on how many prompts are branded, because branded prompts cannot be shared across the corpus.
Can I export Veribix data?
Yes, including the evidence trail behind each figure. Export is self-serve and remains available after cancellation.
